Efforts on for error-free electoral rolls: Collector

 Kakinada: Efforts are on for preparing an error-free and hundred per cent correct electoral rolls in the district, said East Godavari Collector Kartikeya Mira.

Addressing the meeting with representatives of recognised political parties at the Collectorate on Saturday, the collector said that as part of special summery revision 2019, draft electoral rolls  were  published on September 1, this year.

Accordingly, claims and objections were called for on the rolls and the final publication of the rolls will be taken up in  April 2019 as per the directive of the Election Commission, the collector said.

In the meantime, the draft rolls with claims and objections are being supplied to the political parties to verify and study their objections and suggestions.

On this occasion, the collector requested political party’s representatives to go through the rolls and to give specific objections or suggestions within a week, which will be added in the final rolls.

 The collector  also suggested them to go through the rolls  to give their suggestions and advised them to appoint booth-level agents of political parties in the district. This is to coordinate with booth-level officers for preparation of the correct rolls.

The Collector said that there are 38,40,538 voters when the draft roll was published on September 1 this year and during summary revision 2,46,890 new voters were added and 38,049 corrections were made, and 86,427 names were deleted after due verification.

On this occasion Collector Kartikeya  Mishra handed over rolls to representatives of political parties.
