Nellore: Even though traffic congestion in the city has been on a steady rise still there were no measures to resolve the issue. In fact, traffic jamming on the city roads especially on the GNT Road has been increasing year by year due to inadequate traffic personnel to monitor the traffic flow. The city is having a wide network of roads that includes CC and BT roads to an extent of 320 km. Vehicular moment especially in the morning and evening hours between main RTC Complex to Atmakur Bus stand is high.

Employees, students and others prefers to travel on the mini bypass road skipping main road. Increase in the number of auto rickshaws, which are numbered more than 15,000, is found to be one of the reasons for chocking of vehicular traffic.

Though the city is having mini by pass road which is parallel to the Grand Trunk Road, majority of commuters travel on the GT Road for
easy access to market, offices and other commercial organisations.

Autos and parked vehicles in front of big shopping malls have been creating troubles to the commuters. More than 15,000 auto rickshaws and 35 city buses are serving the needs of city population. Recently, private bus operators and auto drivers also hiked prices due to fluctuations in fuel prices.

“We are planning to relieve the people from traffic problems and arrange auto stands in important junctions in the city. Venkatagiri Rajah’s College centre is crucial place and we are searching for suitable land for the stand,” said Mayor Abdul Aziz.
