Chittoor: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams ( TTD)  has constructed a Kalyanamandapam  in Chittoor in 1990  with an outlay of Rs 50 lakhs and the then chief minister Dr Marri Chenna Reddy  inaugurated it on 25th September 1990.  It was built for the convenience of people to conduct marriages.

But the objective has been defeated in Chittoor, it is commented. Due to lack of basic facilities like water, infrastructure and utensils, people are not interested to avail TTD Kalyanamandapam for marriages. As a result, the TTD has been encouraging private programmes to get revenue for meeting    maintenance costs. The rooms meant for bride groom and bride are also in bad condition.

In recent times, the TTD Kalyanamandapam is strictly confined for the exhibition of handi crafts emporiums  deviating  its  main objective.   TTD Dharma Prachara Mandali  is expected to conduct spiritual programmes daily at the  Kalyanamandapam, however, due to lack of support from public, the programmes are not being conducted.

Speaking  to The Hans India here on Sunday, Subhashini, Manager, TTD Kalyanamandapam, Chittoor admitted  that there was no due interest from the public to avail the TTD Kalyanamandapam due to lack of modern facilities “In the road expansion drive, the Chittoor Municipal Corporation has demolished the compound wall   and also Cultural auditorium  some ten  months ago. She appealed the TTD authorities to take initiative
for constructing the boundary wall besides auditorium at the earliest
