Visakhapatnam City police arrest 24 accused involved in 33 offences
Visakhapatnam: The city police arrested 24 accused, who were involved in various 33 offences including a gang which hails from Jharkhand state and recovered a booty worth of Rs 35,11,800 here on Sunday.
Addressing media, city police chief Mahesh Chandra Laddha said that a gang consists of three couple along with children aged below five years hails from Gandhinagar area of Tatanagar, Bagbera of Jharkhand state entered the city and were residing at railway station area.
They move in the areas like beggars, identify the lonely houses and locked houses and commit thefts. In August, they came to city and committed theft of gold and silver ornaments under III Town, Kancharapalem and Duvvada police limits. The gang was apprehended at Gnanapuram railway station and recovered 186 grams gold ,300 grams silver worth Rs 5,70,000 from their possession.
In another incident, Pendurthy police arrested two persons in which a womaniser E Siva Prasad, who was enlisted as APSP constable worked with 5th battalion, Vizianagaram and Greyhounds till 2009, later during 2014, he got suspended after harassing his wife and two children. Prasad who got addicted to bad habits and developed illegal intimacy with the sister of his wife.
After suspension, he committed robberies at Bhairavaswamy temple in Pendurthy area. Previously he was also involved in three robberies at Pendurthy police station limits, one chain-snatching and extraction case was registered at various police stations in the city.
Another accused K Bapuji Appalanaidu, who is also accomplice in three offences came on motor cycles in uniform and committed robberies. During police investigation Siva Prasad confessed that he committed 12 offences by targeting the unmarried couple (lovers) at isolated tourist places and looted them and in some cases he also committed sexually assault on women in which 3 complaints were registered.
The Commissioner appealed to other nine victims should come to police station and lodge complaint against him regarding the sexual assault.
The city police also arrested a few accused who were involved in 10 chain-snatching cases at MVP and III Town police limits and recovered Rs 1,10,000.
In another Day House Breaking case, police arrested B Nagamnaidu, a native of Pedagantyada near Gajuwaka and recovered Rs 1,87,800 from him. Duvvada police, on receipt of a robbery complaint, arrested M Nageswara Rao, a native of Kapu Gundapalem, Rambili mandal in the district and recovered ornaments worth of Rs 4,02,000 from his possession.
The city police also arrested seven accused involved in 15 motor vehicle lifting cases and recovered 5 autos and 10 motorcycles worth Rs 17,50,000 from them.
