CP Dwaraka Tirumala Rao inaugurates Police Sports meet in Vijayawada

Vijayawada: Sports would be a stress buster and would give relief to the cops, as the Police officials would be under severe work stress in their regular routine, said Police Commissioner Ch Dwaraka Tirumala Rao on Monday. 

As the chief guest at the inaugural programme of four-day Police Sports and Games meet, he inaugurated the meet organised at Indira Ggandhi Municipal Corporation stadium here.

In all 269 staff and officers of the police department would be participating in the sports events from across five zones, Law and order – 1 zone, Law and order- 2 zone, Traffic Zone, Crime Zone and CAR and CAW zone. 

Sports events like Kabaddi, Volleyball, Tug of War, Hand Ball, Basketball, Shuttle, Tennis, Running, Long Jump, High Jump, Triple Jump, Shot put, Discus throw, Javelin and Hummer throw will be organised.

The International sportspersons and head constable Tulasi Chaitanya, Special Branch SI Srinivasa Rao, Head Constables Sambasiva Rao, and Srinivasa Naik will be the special attraction of the event.  

After receiving the guard of honour, the commissioner said that they are introducing the meet which was held 14 years ago. 

He appealed to all the sportsmen and players to maintain sportsmen spirit and to take victory and defeat positively. 

He said that all should remember whoever wins is also from the police fraternity.
