Cath Lab will come into operation in 4 days in Guntur
Guntur: Cath Lab in the Guntur General Hospital (GGH), which was inaugurated by the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu recently, will come into full operation within three or four days. Currently, the doctors are conducting trials in the Cath Lab.
Once it will come into use, the doctors may perform balloon surgeries, bypass surgeries and place stunts to heart patients. The doctors may diagnose the heart problems accurately with the help of modern technology in the Cath Lab and perform surgeries in Cath Lab round-the-clock.
GGH in Guntur will cater to needs of patients referred by other government hospitals in the region. It may be mentioned that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has set the foundation stone for the construction of Mother and Child Ward in the GGH at a cost of Rs 65 crore on December 19.
At present, on average, daily 4,000 patients are visiting the GGH for outpatient service. In order to meet increasing the needs of patents, the government planned to construct extension for GGH where some blocks will be build. Following instructions of the Chief Minister, the district administration started process to allot six acres of land at Bongaralabeedu in Guntur city.
The district administration is expected to handover the land very soon to the GGH. After getting land allotment orders, the GGH officials will start process for the construction of the additional blocks on the land. The GGH doctors have a proposal to construct a block to render super speciality services in Ophthalmology and Psychiatry. Presently the GGH has 1,267 beds.
The official sent a proposal to the government to increase at least 50 per cent of beds in the GGH to meet increasing demand. Accidents cases are increasing because it is nearer to National Highway.
Speaking to The Hans India, GGH Superintendent Dr D S Raju Naidu said, “The Cath Lab will come into operation within fourdays. We are waiting for land. Once we will get six acres of land at Bongaralabeedu into our possession, we will prepare plans for the development.”
