Illegal charge collected at HSRP centre
Bhimavaram: People who handle high security number plates at the HSRP centre here have allegedly been illegally collecting money though they are supposed to do it free of cost.
There have been allegations that they are demanding Rs 30 for fixing high security plates for two-wheeler vehicles and Rs 50 for car, auto rickshaw and lorry.
The Transport department directed the HSRP centre not to collect any money from the vehicle owners for fixing the number plates. It is also alleged that the higher officials are clandestinely supporting these collections.
The vehicle owners need to go to the HSRP centre to get the number plates fixed after receiving the short message from the Transport department. They are specifically told not to pay any money for fixing the plates.
However, the persons who are handling the number plates are demanding payment of amount depending upon the vehicle.
Though these transactions have been going on the premises of the Transport department, the officials are turning a Nelson’s eye, it is alleged.
