Scouts and Guides to promote positive vibes in Ashram Schools
Vizianagaram: For the first time in the Tribal Welfare Ashram Schools of Vizianagaram district, Scouts and Guide activities have been started by the ITDA administration to motivate the youth towards the self-discipline and nationalism.
It was all started when the Department of Tribal Welfare has released some funds to improve quality in tribal welfare educational institutes. The ITDA Parvathipuram was first to start this initiative. Initially 55 physical directors form Ashram schools were trained as master trainer by the State Scouts and Guides Society.
Further 32 students patrol was brought up in each school making it to 1,216 scouts (trained boys) and 544 guides (trained girls) who are spirited with the motto “be prepared - which means you are always in a state of readiness in mind and body to do your duty.”
Deputy Director of Tribal Welfare KKiran Kumar stated that the parents of these tribal students were amazed to see their children in a glorifying uniform and participating in various service activities.
“We will improve the helping nature in students and we can deploy them in some massive programmes like village festivals and sports and games and at exhibitions and others. Even the tribal students will learn something from this scouts and guide programme and they will be more disciplined after wearing this uniform,” he said.
PO ITDA Parvathipuram Dr G Lakshmishasaid that while some pockets of agency area in Vizianagaram had history of left-wing extremism influence, the initiatives like skill development and sports by the government is giving psychological support to the tribal youth keeping them away from the influence of possible anti-social elements. The Scouts and Guide in schools is expected to go a long way to inculcate positive thoughts and sprit among tribal youths, the PO said.
