Banking services hit by strike in Rajamahendravaram
Rajamahendravaram: Bank transactions in the city came to a standstill as the employees of nationlised banks participated in the strike, condemning the Central government's move to merge Dena and Vijaya banks in Bank of Baroda.
Addressing the members of Bank Employees Association at State Bank of India main branch here on Wednesday, the leaders said the Central government was trying to dilute the banking sector by merging banks in the guise of economic stability.
The government had already merged nine subsidiary banks in State Bank of India and the employees and customers were facing problems. The employees associations would continue their protest against Central government until it withdraws its decision, they added.
