Chittoor Police seize 32 country-made weapons from forest areas in the district
Chittoor: In view of the ensuring general elections 2019, police personnel conducted a drive to weed out illegal fire arms in the district and recovered 32 country made fire arms from different spots in Chittoor Police Sub Division.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Vikranth Patel, at a press conference held here on Wednesday, said that in addition to the country made weapons, police have also seized huge quantify of copper and aluminium wires from electric wire thieves.
In another incidents, the police have seized 57 gms of gold 40 gms of silver, Rs 20,000 cash from two burglary cases. The SP said that a special party has been formed to recover the unauthorised weapons and in a drive, the police have recovered the illegal fire arms in the reserve forest of Gudipala, Yadamari, and Thavanampalli mandals.
In addition, the police have also recovered copper and aluminium wires relating to the Electric Transformers of several farmers in the jurisdiction of Irala, Thavanampalli, and Kanipakam areas from several offenders.
Five persons were held in electric wire theft cases and two were held in burglary cases. So far the police have arrested seven accused. They were sent for judicial remand. ASP E Supraja, DSPs N Subba Rao , CI Adinarayana ( Chittoor Rural and others participated in the drive. However, no arrests were made in connection with illegal firearms, it is said.
