Narendra Modi arriving in AP only to hoodwink people
Vijayawada: All India Congress Committee Secretary Gidugu Rudra Raju pooh-poohing the proposed visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Andhra Pradesh, said that the Prime Minister is coming to the State only to spread some more false propaganda.
Talking to newsmen at Andhra Ratna Bhavan, the State Congress headquarters here on Wednesday, Rudra Raju said that the Prime Minister who failed to solve the problems being faced by the state during the last four-and-half years, is coming to the State only to hoodwink people with his glib talk.
He pointed out that the Prime Minister did not give Special Category Status to the State, railway zone to Visakhapatnam and special package to the backward districts and never mentioned about the Centre’s assistance to Polavaram Project.
Rudra Raju recalled that the Congress government led by Dr Manmohan Singh prepared a very good legislation, AP Reorganisation Act, while dividing the State. However, the BJP government did not implement it, he regretted.
“During his last visit to Amaravati, the Prime Minister brought some earth and a pot of water to the State and what he would be bringing this time?” the Congress leader wondered. It would be sensible if the Prime Minister visited the State after fulfilling the promises he made to the State visit and after releasing a white paper on special assistant package he proposed, the AICC secretary opined.
He wondered what was holding the Prime Minister back from according the Special Category Status to AP after giving the same to 11 other States. Rudra Raju said that the Prime Minister should apologise to the people of Andhra Pradesh for not fulfilling the promises before stepping into the State.
