Sri Venkateswara University gets 10 cr research project

Tirupati: Sri Venkateswara University has got Rs.10 crore prestigious research project from Department of Bio Technology (DBT), New Delhi. This will further boost University’s efforts which is making great strides in the areas of teaching and research.

It was the only University in the State to get  such a rare project.  Former Rector of Professor of Zoology Dr M Bhaskar will be the Principal Investigator of the two-year project entitled, “Bioactive Compounds of Medicinal Plants and their Therapeutic Applications”.

Prof C Varadarajulu Naidu of Bio Technology department, Prof K Tyagaraju of Bio Chemistry department, Prof N Yashodamma of Botany department and Prof DVR Sai Gopal of Virology department will work as Co Principal Investigators. On the occasion, the in-charge Vice Chancellor of SVU Prof G Janakiramaiah said that this project will facilitate four Assistant Professors and a few students t

o undertake research work. Training camps will be held for faculty and students of Degree and Junior Colleges under the purview of SVU. He along with the Registrar Prof RK Anuradha have handed over the copies of the orders sent by DBT of Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India at VC Chamber in Tirupati on Wednesday.
