Mother, child mortality rates fall

Amaravati: Stating that the state government has been giving highest priority for the health of the people, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said that several innovative initiatives were taken for health security.

While releasing the White Paper on Human Resources and Social Development on Friday, Naidu said that Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) from 83 for one lakh live births (2014-15) to 65.81 (2018-19).

Decrease in Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) came down from 37 (2014-15) to 10.51 (2018-19). Talli Bidda Express, a new initiative with 279 vehicles, has dropped back 719,512 post-natal women. The number of free dialysis centres has increased from 14 to 48.

Mukhyamantri e-Eye Kendram, another new initiative for quality eyecare was established in 115 centres and covered 6,67,796 beneficiaries.
Surgeries have increased in government hospitals by 173 per cent in 2018-19 (11.99 lakh) compared to 2014-15 (4.39 lakh).

Lab diagnostic tests in public health facilities rose by 120 per cent in 2018-19 (3.25 crores) compared to 2014-1 5 (1.48 crore). Institutional deliveries have increased from 97 per cent (2014-15) to 99.2 per cent (2018-19).

The rate of full immunisation of 1-5 years aged children increased from 79.78 per cent (2014-15) to 112.95 per cent (2018-19). In case of 0-1 years children, the increase was from 95.07 per cent (2014-15) to 101.22 percent (2018-19).

The increase in the in-patient percentage in public health facilities was by 36.67 in 2018- 19 (3,452,592) compared to 2014-15 (2,526,211).
