Villagers stage dharna for bridge
Komarada (Vizianagaram): Locals in Agency areas of Komarada mandal in Vizianagaram district staged a dharna in front of Tahsildar’s office demanding the government to complete the construction of bridge on river Nagavali, which is pending for past few decades. The government has proposed to construct a bridge on the river at Purnapadu and Labesu villages.
The villagers living on the other edge of the river in hilly areas will lose contacts with other society during rainy season as flood water submerge the village. The construction of bridge here is a dream of villagers.
The local leaders and tribals have been demanding the government to complete it soon and staging dharnas for the past ten days at Komatlapeta village of Komarada mandal. But on Friday huge number of locals have rushed to Tahsildar’s office and blocked the inter-state highway which connects Vizianagaram with Rayagada of Odisha State.
As a result, hundreds of vehicles were stopped on both sides. Later the police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. Leaders of AP Girijana Sangham and CPI leaders participated in the dharna.
