Traffic troubles galore
Bhimavaram: The town is facing serious traffic problems as roads and infrastructure are not developed to suit the present day needs. Known for real-estate and aqua culture, Bhimavaram is one of the fastest developing towns in West Godavari district.
However, lack of bypass road, rail gate and others pose problems for traffic. Increase in number of vehicles, educational institutions and other factors contribute for the traffic troubles.
The heavy vehicles used for transportation pass through the city roads causing difficulties.
The traffic problem turns complex frequently for this very reason and vehicles stranded for hours together. The seriousness of the problem can be assessed by the rush of vehicles during school timings.
The problem is serious at Ambedkar Centre, Prakasam Chowk, Police Bomma Centre and Bombay Sweet Centre. If traffic halts for any reason, it would take hours to clear it.
The snail pace of works relating to bypass road gate on the outskirts is one of the reasons for the traffic difficulties. The railway gate works which are supposed to be completed by now are still continuing posing another problem.
It would be difficult for the police to tackle the problem if the government failed to take alternative steps to ease traffic in the town.
