Trial run at Orvakal airport successful
Kurnool: Principal Secretary to Energy, Investment and Infrastructure Ajay Jain said that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will dedicate the Orvakal Airport to nation on January 8. The trial run has been conducted on Monday successfully, he said.
Ajay Jain, along with district collector S Sathyanarayana and superintendent of police Dr Fakkeerappa Kaginelli, inspected the arrangements for Chief Minister’s tour to Orvakal. Ajay Jain, speaking to media persons on Monday, said that the Chief Minister laid foundation stone for greenfield airport at Orvakal in June last year. Permission to launch passenger services is yet to obtained.
People can avail transportation facilities within a period of two months. The Rs 100 crore airport project was constructed in an area of 1,000 and was completed in a speedy manner, he said. He further said that air services would first start to Vijayawada, Chennai and Bengaluru. It will be 30 minutes journey to Vijayawada from Kurnool.
It is very happy to see that the airport works have been completed in a span of 18 months period, he said and appreciated all the officials for their coordination in completing the airport works. The air services would be available to people from April or May.
