Chandrababu Naidu to inaugurate Kurnool Ultra Mega Solar Park today

Vijayawada:  Andhra Pradesh Energy Department will achieve another milestone in Energy production on Tuesday as the State is launching the Kurnool Ultra Mega Solar Park (1000 MW) in Orvakal in Kurnool district. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will unveil the solar park during his visit to the district. Kurnool district administration made elaborate arrangements for the visit of the Chief Minister.

The State government acquired 5,683.22 acres of land for Kurnool Ultra Mega Solar Park (1000 MW) in a record period of nine months without disturbing a single dwelling house. About 91 per cent of the land is government and assigned land which is not suitable for cultivation. Kurnool Mega Solar Park is the 3rd largest solar power park in the world at a single location. Tengger Desert Solar Park (1547 MW), China and Bhadla Solar Park (1365 MW), India are the two biggest parks in the world. Now, Kurnool will occupy the third position.

Greenko Group will produce 500 MW power under International Competitive Bidding (ICB) (tariff @ Rs. 4.63/kWh). SBG Cleantech Project Co Pvt. Ltd. will produce 350 MW under ICB (tariff @ Rs. 4.63/kWh). Azure Power India Pvt Ltd will produce 100 MW under DCR (tariff@ Rs. 5.12/kWh) and Prayatna Developers Pvt Ltd will produce 50 MW under DCR (tariff @ Rs. 5.13/kWh). 

Total investment made in the solar park is Rs 7,143.77 crore and has been built in a record time of only 24 months. It was built in 5683.22 acres land. Out of which, the government land is 3,494.29 acres, assigned land 1,674.14 acres and patta land is 514.79 acres. Infrastructure facilities like roads, drains and water supply system were provided by APSPCL. It can generate 1,282 jobs. The skilled workers will get 499 jobs, semi-skilled workers 228 and unskilled 555.
