Addressing the media, Durga Bhavani said that the Women Reservation Bill to accord 33 percent reservation to women was pending in the Parliament for the approval from both the houses since 1996.

As the last and final Parliament session was underway, the members of NFIW demanded that the NDA government approve the Women Reservation Bill in both the houses of the Parliament and do justice to the women of the country.

She recalled that during the UPA government, the bill was partially approved by the Parliament. However, the bill was pending ever since the NDA came to power.

She said that after 72 years of Independence, still women in the country were suffering without freedom and asked the NDA government to approve the women bill and do justice.
