Mahatma to inspire Bheemili students
Visakhapatnam: In an effort make students inculcate Gandhian principles, the government has taken up installing statues of Mahatma Gandhi in all government schools.
As a part of the programme, the government supplied statues of the Mahatma to all the 212 government schools, including primary, upper primary and high schools in the Bheemili assembly constituency. While presenting the statues, HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao said besides the presence of Gandhi statues, teachers would explain the Gandhian ideologies to the students to mould their personality.
Calling upon teachers to take special attention, the Minister wanted them to explain the role Mahatma Gandhi played in attaining freedom from the British rulers in a peaceful manner. In the present education system, the teachers have to pay big role in explaining to the students about the morals and ethical values, he said.
Commissioner, VMRDA P Basanth Kumar called upon the teachers to read the Mahatma Gandhi’s ‘The Story of My Experiments with Truth’ in which several topics would be useful in daily life. He also called upon the teachers to teach the topics of the books to the students.
Vice-Chancellor of Andhra University Prof G Nageswara Rao explained about the Mahatma Gandhi’s principles. Vice-Chancellor of Adikavi Nannya University, Chairperson of Zilla Parishad L Bhavani and District Educational Officer, Visakhapatnam B Lingeswara Reddy also spoke on the occasion.
