Sankranthi Sambaralu today

Visakhapatnam: Collector Pravin Kumar said that the  ‘Sankranthi Sambaraluu’ would be celebrated on Saturday at district and mandal headquarters by involving all sections of the people.

Addressing media here on Friday, the collector said that the government has released Rs 1 crore to celebrate the Sankranthi Sambaralu across the district and Rs 1 lakh distributed to each zone of all six zones in Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation and each mandal of total 39 mandals for the celebrations.

The district-level celebrations will be held at VUDA Children Theatre in the city, he added. Various programmes including rangoli, cooking competitions, bommala koluvu, gobbemmalu, essay competitions to students and several other programmes would be organised as part of the celebrations.

As part of the celebrations, cultural programmes would be organised at Silparamam in the city, the collector said. Joint Collector-2 Dr A Siri was supervising the Sankranthi Sambaralu. Officials and employees of all departments should also participate in the celebrations, the collector said.
