Vijayawada: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will lay the foundation stone for an iconic bridge and water treatment plant at Pavitra Sangamam at Ibrahimpatnam in Krishna district on Saturday. The iconic bridge will be the main entry point from north direction to Amaravati capital city. The bridge will connect Amaravati capital city with Krishna district.

The state government has made plans to lay the foundation stone for the bridge on the River Krishna on the auspicious day of Vijaya Dasami but it was postponed due to various reasons.

The bridge will connect the Hyderabad national highway with Amaravati capital city at Ibrahimpatnam in Krishna district.  This will reduce traffic load on Vijayawada. The L&T Company will construct the 3.2-km, six-lane bridge and the project would cost Rs 1387 crore.

The bridge is estimated to be completed in two years. Now the government wants to construct the bridge with tourism attractions. Already, the government developed the iconic bridge's starting point in the name of Pavitra Sangamam at Ibrahimpatnam.

The bridge will also connect the historical Kondapalli fort with Amaravati. The government is giving utmost priority to its construction as it has assumed significance in many ways.

The Amaravati Development Corporation has designed a 170-metre pylon, which is tallest in India, for the bridge.  The Chief Minister would also lay the foundation stone for water treatment plant, being constructed with an outlay of Rs 740.65 crore and it would supply 380 million litres per day. The project would be constructed in 217 sq km area.
