4 held for duping duo of 53 lakh
Nellore: Chillakur and Gudur police have apprehended four accused, who duped two persons from Chillakur mandal, in the guise of Rice Pulling Object.
According to police, Abothula Vikas and Chatla Subrahmanyam of Srikalahasti in Chittoor district witnessed huge losses in education consultancy and realty business in the State and also in Bengaluru cities.
They teamed up with Ramesh from Visakhapatnam and Suri Babu of Vizianagaram and cheated P Praveen Kumar Reddy of Pentapadu village in Chillakur mandal saying value of the object is crores of rupees and put it for sale for Rs 90 lakh only.
Both Vikas and Subrahmanyam introduced Ramesh and Suri Babu as partners in the project and collected Rs 53 lakh from Praveen and his friend P Seshagiri. They brought Praveen and his friend Seshagiri to Vizianagaram and played drama there failing to show the object practically.
A case was registered on December 30 and recovered Rs 51 lakh from the accused. Police booked a case against four accused and sent them for judicial custody on Monday.
