Brazilian team meets Kodela, Subbareddy on Ongole bull
Guntur/Ongole: A government delegation from Brazil led by a minister Turkeys Sio Cruz Moskita interacted with Assembly Speaker Dr Kodela Siva Prasada Rao at his residence in Narasaraopet town on Sunday over Ongole breed bull development.
The Brazil government developed disease-resistant Ongole bull breed. Siva Prasada Rao explained the significance of Ongole breed, murra breed cows, buffaloes and steps being taken by the government to develop the Ongole breed bulls in the state to the Brazilian delegation. The Speaker also felicitated the Brazil delegation.
The team also went to Chilakaluripet town where the minister for civil supplies Prathipati Pulla Rao conducted a cattle show on the eve of Sankranti. In Ongole, another official team from northern Brazilian state Pará met former MP from Ongole Y V Subbareddy on Sunday and informed him that their government was ready to offer technical support in research and development of Ongole breed cattle in the country.
Earlier, Subbareddy met former Brazilian agriculture minister Katia Abreu in her tour to India in November 2014 and requested the transfer of technology that Brazil was using in development of high performing Ongole cattle breed.
Brazilian officials, including Dr Jose Rebalmer Phillip Marcus, Dr Tadesse Mesquita, Guilherme Mensen, Dr Jose Ottavio Limos, Venugopal Badaravada, informed Subbareddy that their government has agreed for technical support in developing high-yield cattle.
Subbareddy said the Brazil houses more than 16 crore cattle of Ongole breed while we have two lakh animals in the state. Subba Reddy said the Murray type buffaloes were yielding milk between 5-10 litres and in future, with the utilisation of Brazilian technology, we can see buffaloes yielding 25 litres a day.
