Cockfights continue unabated in Pithapuram

Kakinada: Despite constant vigil by the police, the cockfights went on unchecked on Bhogi Day on Monday  in Pithapuam area in East Godavari. In Pithapuram town limits, the cockfights are said to be  going on with active support of Chiranjivi Raju, nephew of local  MLA S V S  N Varma.

In P Dontamuru  in Pithapuram rural area, the cockfights were said to be organised with active support of S V Ravi Varma, younger brother of MLA. It is said that on the first of the three-day Sankranti festival, according to sources, betting spree went on to  lakhs of rupees in both Pithapuram and  P Dontamuru under Pithapuram Assembly constituency.
