TTD aims at developing cow breeds

Tirupati: The SV Gosamrakshanashala of TTD is aimed at developing and sustaining desi cow breeds, said TTD Executive Officer (EO) Anil Kumar Singhal. Speaking to media persons at SV Goshala here on Wednesday on the occasion of Kanuma festival, the EO said, as a tradition, TTD has been observing Gopuja, Tulasi Puja, Gobbemma Puja on the occasion of this celestial fete since many years.

There are around 3,000 cattle here and to take care of desi breeds, cow products an exclusive Gow Centre is coming up at Palamaner and the board has also agreed to develop this centre during the recent board meeting,” he added.

He said a massive project with an outlay of Rs 32 core is being implemented by the TTD for the development of its Gosamrakshanashala for taking up a wide range of activities including protection and preservation of desi cow breeds in the country, training programmes for farmers in production of organic manures to help them reduce usage of chemical fertilisers in agriculture to preserve soil fertility and also awareness programme in association with government’s Animal Husbandry department for farmers on various aspects including preserving desi cow breeds, panchagavya production etc. 

The EO said the SV Gosamrakshana Trust set up by TTD reached Rs 120 crore in the form of donations from the public earning Rs 9 crore as interest annually while TTD also spending its funds for development of Goshala and its activities. 

SV Goshala Director Dr Harindranath Reddy was also present. Earlier, the cultural activities performed in the Goshala premises attracted huge number of local crowds.
