AP State govt plans flights to Nagarjunakonda, Puttaparthi
Guntur: The Andhra Pradesh Airports Development Corporation is making arrangements to operate nine seater flights from Gannavaram to Nagarjunasagar and Puttaparthi by March end this year. The Supreme Airlines got all the permissions from the government to operate flights from Gannavaram to Nagarjunasagar and Puttaparthi. But it is facing problems with regard to pilots.
Pilots who were working in the airlines were shifted to other airlines. Due to pilots’ problem, the company has decided to engage foreign nationals as pilots and seeking permission from the Central government. As soon as it gets clearance from the Centre, it will recruit the pilots and start operations to Nagarjunasagar and Puttaparthi.
The Supreme Airlines will operate daily two trips to Nagarjunasagar and Puttaparthi. The government is feeling that if Nagarjunasagar Airstrip will come into operation, more tourists will visit Amaravati as part of their visits to Nagarjunakonda.
The government is planning to develop Buddhists circuit in the State. Andhra Pradesh Airports Development Corporation Managing Director and CEO Virendra Singh said, ``We are doing our best to operate flights to Nagarjunakonda and Puttaparthi at the earliest. Pilots’ problems will be solved soon. If we operate nine-seater flights to Nagarjunakonda and Puttaparthi, and the tourism in the State will get boost. "
