Coast Guard staff plant saplings at Malkapuram
Visakhapatnam: To commemorate the 42nd Indian Coast Guard Day on February 1, a special tree plantation drive was conducted by the Coast Guard on Saturday. Taking forward the Coast Guard motto of ‘Green environment, Clean Environment’, the tree plantation drive taken up at Malkapuram in the city.
Coast Guard officers and personnel, school teachers and students from CG school and Zilla Parishad High School, Yarada and GVMC officials were present in the drive.
Murali Manohar Naidu, Zonal Health Officer, Coast Guard DIG N Ravi, Commanding officers of CG ships, Principal of CG School and Zilla Parishad High School, Yarada also planted tree saplings.
At another programme, Coast Guard District headquarters conducted sports to fishermen communities. The sports were coordinated by the Coast Guard refit and production team, Visakhapatnam and ICGS VIGRAHA.
On the occasion, DIG N Ravi, reiterated the importance of safety of life at sea and the commitment of Indian Coast Guard to save every life in distress at sea.
The importance of carriage of life jackets and other safety devices by every fishing boat was highlighted on the occasion.
