Happy Sunday second anniv fete held in Ongole
Ongole: The ‘Happy Sunday’, a programme launched in Ongole to dedicate a part of the roads for recreation, games and sports activities, completed two years on Sunday.
The people of Ongole town enjoyed the morning with the special programmes, Happy Sunday and Anandalahari arranged at the power office in Kurnool Road by the Ongole Municipal Corporation.
Since its inception, the Happy Sunday programme received tremendous response from all groups of people. Every week, the programme is covering all major areas in the town including the suburbs and witnessed the active participation of the youth, children, and adults irrespective of gender.
They have participated in the musical chairs, tug of war, caroms, ring, chess, puli-meka, snakes and ladder, shuttle badminton as part of the Happy Sunday activities.
The artistes of Bharatanatyam, folk, western dance, cultural, folk and cine songs mesmerized the public with their performance.
On the occasion of the Happy Sunday completing two years, the Ongole MLA Damacharla Janardhana Rao inaugurated the two-year celebrations brochure and inspected the Bommala Koluvu, art exhibition and food festival.
The Ongole public felicitated the MLA, who was also celebrating his birthday on Sunday, with a shawl and memento.
The dance masters, who were actively participating in the programme regularly also received felicitation from the municipal Commissioner Sankranti Venkata Krishna on behalf of the public.
The Commissioner presented monetary support of Rs 25000 to the family of Purna, a dance master who died of heart attack recently, as a token of respect to his services.
The staff from Ongole Municipal Corporation, local public association members and other residents and students in the area also participated in the programmes.
