River swimming competition on Jan 27 in Vijayawada
Vijayawada: Aqua Devils Welfare Association (ADWA) would organised a 1.5 kilometer swimming competition in River Krishna on January 27 (Sunday), according to ADWA president KS Ramchander Rao in a press release on Sunday.Ramchander Rao said that they have been organising swimming competitions in River Krishna for the last 19 years to mark Republic Day celebrations.
The competition will commence at Durga Ghat South side of River Krishna, near Lotus Food City which would commence at 6 am. Swimmers of all age groups from 5 years and above will participated coming from various parts of country mostly South India.
Prizes will be awarded to the winners and certificate of participation will be given to the participants who complete the destination.
Interested participants may register their names at the office from January 20 to 25, and have to carry passport photograph along with age proof certificate by paying a registration fee of Rs 300, he said and added that about 30 boats with experienced swimmers will be monitoring the event.
Life jackets, plastic ropes, medical aid will be provided at the river to safeguard the swimming participants.
