Vijayawada: Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Shipping and Water Resources Nitin Gadkari said here on Monday that the Centre had allocated more funds to Andhra Pradesh than any other State in the country.

Addressing the Krishna district party workers with city BJP president Adduri Ramulu in the chair, the Union Minister said that Andhra Pradesh has never been discriminated while allocating funds. Former Union Ministers Daggubati Purandeswari and Kavuri Sambasiva Rao, State BJP president Kanna Lakshminarayana, MLCs Somu Veerraju and Madhav, BJLP leader Vishnukumar Raju, MPs Gokaraju Gangaraju, GVL Narasimha Rao and other leaders were on the dais.

The Union Minister said that he came to AP to lay foundation stone for some development schemes and dedicate 39 National Highway projects including railway over bridges under Setu Bharatam with an investment of Rs 16,878 crore covering 1,384 km.

He regretted that in spite of the huge allocations to the State, the former alliance partner TDP was attacking Prime Minister Narendra Modi day in and day out. He appealed to people to compare AP’s development that took place for 50 years with that of the last five years.

Gadkari said that the Centre has massive plan in mind to link Krishna river and Penna river with the water of Godavari to take water to Tamil Nadu for which it is estimated to cost Rs 60,000 crore because only steel pipes would be used to shift water instead of canals.

Referring to the allegations that the Centre was not releasing funds for the speedy completion of Polavaram Project, the Union Minister said that with the cooperation of the State government the Centre would surely complete the project on time which is his responsibility.

He said various development programmes would be undertaken by the Centre including Sagar Mala, Petrochemical complex at Kakinada Amaravati-Anantapur highway, Amaravati Bypass road and Vizag-Chennai Industrial Corridor (VCIC) among others.

He appealed to people to elect Narendra Modi once again as the Prime Minister to make India super economic power in the world. Taking a jab at the ruling TDP, he said that BJP was not a private enterprise limited but people’s party.
