Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board to hold road show tomorrow for promoting City Gas Distribution

Visakhapatnam: Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB), the nodal agency for facilitating economic activities in natural gas distribution, will organise a roadshow on January 23 for promoting 10th City Gas Distribution (CGD) bidding round in Visakhapatnam.

The recently concluded 9th CGD bidding round for 86 Geographical Areas (GAs) covering 174 districts in 21 States/ UTs attracted great interest from investors across the sector, wherein 406 bids were received from 38 organisations (including 8 new and 2 overseas investors).

The current round has received minimum work commitment of 2.2 crore domestic PNG connections, setting up of 4,600 CNG stations and laying of 1.16 lakh inch-km of steel pipeline. The 10th CGD Bidding Round comprising 50 GAs covering 124 districts in 14 states was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 22, 2018, in New Delhi.

The roadshow in Visakhapatnam is part of a series of roadshows which are being organised by PNGRB across India before the deadline for bid submissions on February 5, 2019. Prior to this, roadshows were held at Chandigarh, Patna, Jaipur, Bangalore, Ranchi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Bhopal, and Thiruvananthapuram, which generated significant interest and were attended in large numbers by senior government officials, prospective investors, and other stakeholders.

In the 9th CGD bidding round almost all the GAs offered were awarded by PNGRB and similar expectations can be attributed to 10th CGD bidding round. The event at Visakhapatnam expected to be attended by government officials, industry academia, trade associations and investors from the oil and gas related sector. The 10th CGD bidding round, 3 GAs covering 4 districts Anantapur, Kadapa, Nellore and Chittoor are being offered by PNGRB.
