Chandrababu Naidu questions YSRCP, BJP on Kapu reservations

Update: 2019-01-23 15:45 IST

In a strong voice, TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu questioned both YSRCP and BJP that "what is your objection in giving 5 percent reservations to Kapu community in the state and why are you opposing the State government's move on it?".

Speaking with the party leaders over teleconference from New Delhi on Wednesday, the visiting Naidu explained that Kapu, Ontari and others in this category are more than fifty percent out of the total population of upper castes in the state and hence he gave five percent quota to them, out of the ten percent given by central government to upper castes.

He blamed that the then CM YS Rajasekhar Reddy betrayed the Kapu community by promising reservations to them and now his son YSRCP President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy objecting the reservations.

He said that the BJP and YSRCP leaders are getting fear after seeing the recent decisions of TDP government and the development and welfare taken place during the last four and half years in the state. Hence, they started baseless criticism against TDP, he added.
