Use latest tech to tackle disasters: DRO to officials
Nellore: District Revenue Officer SV Nageswara Rao appealed to the officials to combat natural disasters using latest technology. He participated in a programme in which team members of Atlas Telecommunications Establishment interacted with the district administration at Golden Jubilee hall here on Tuesday on disaster management.
DRO said that Nellore district is having huge coastal area which is prone to natural disasters frequently and there is a need to utilise technology for predicting the disasters, updating the departments through alerts systematically before and during disaster. This leads to reduce human and property losses, he said.
Hence, he said, the state government had started a project, Andhra Pradesh Critical Operation Strategic Management and Incident Command (APCOSMIC), with the support of the World Bank. This is being implemented by UAE based Atlas Telecom and as part of the project Integrated Emergency Management System (IEMS).
Nellore RDO Chinni Krishna, District Project Manager of disaster management Prasad, Joint Director of Agriculture Satyanarayana, Deputy Commissioner of Transport Sivaram Prasad, District Fire Officer Dharma Rao and others were present.
