Vijayawada: A day after the TDP leaders and MLCs Bachula Arjunudu and T D Janardhan invited to join the TDP, former MLA Vangaveeti Radhakrishna on Thursday announced that he quit the YSRCP due to the humiliation he faced in the YSRCP.

He commented that no one should face such humiliation. He made some remarks against  YSRCP president YS Jaganmohan Reddy while speaking to media at his office. He said Jagan told him that he would treat him like a younger brother but failed to do so. Radhakrishna, however, did not say that he would join the TDP.

It was expected that Vangaveeti Radhakrishna would announce in the press meet that he would join the TDP. Speculation was rife that the TDP would offer him the MLC post. But, Vangaveeti Radhakrishna made it clear that position is not important to him but he wants to continue the ideals of his father Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga Rao.

Radhakrishna, who was denied party ticket to contest the Vijayawada Central Assembly constituency by the YSRCP, spoke to the media at his office on Thursday and vent his anger at YSRCP and its president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.

He said Jagan had directly questioned him when he attended a programme to inaugurate the statue of his father Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga.
Radhakrishna emotionally said that he had no freedom in YSRCP to attend a programme related to his father without informing to the local YSRCP leaders.

‘Jaganmohan Reddy told me that he would treat him like a brother but he never did,”. Radhakrishna said that Jaganmohan Reddy told him that he had taken into the party because he lost his father. Radhakrishna said he did not need sympathy of any leader and he would continue his activities with the support of Radha and Ranga Mithra Mandali. When asked about his joining the TDP, Radhakrishna evaded a clear reply.

“I got invitation from the TDP to join because the TDP leadership felt Ranga’s family is an institution and it could be useful to the society,” he said. In an ambiguous statement, he apologised to the Chief Minister and refused to clarify his apology.

Asked how he would join the TDP which was facing allegation of killing his father Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga, the former MLA said actions of some persons could not be linked to the political parties.

Once again, he declared that the ideals of his father are very important to him and recalled his father fought for the allotment of houses to the poor. He said, “I request Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to sanction house site pattas to the thousands of families living on hill areas in the city. These families have been waiting for a long time to get the house site pattas,” he added.
