Amaravati to become educational hub: Collector Kona Sasidhar

Guntur: Collector Kona Sasidhar said the government has taken all steps for the construction of buildings for the High Court, Secretariat, Assembly and Raj Bhavan at a cost of Rs 48,116 crore.

Hoisted the national flag on the occasion of Republic Day celebrations at a programme held at Police Parade Grounds in the city on Saturday, he said government was planning to develop the state capital as educational hub to generate more employment opportunities. 

He reminded that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu laid the foundation stone for the construction of Godavari-Penna river linking scheme at Harichandrapuram at a cost of Rs 6,020 crore which will stabilise Nagarjunasagar right canal ayacut area of Guntur and Prakasam districts and added that the government waived crop loans of 6 lakh farmers to keep its election promise. 

He said tractors were purchased at a cost of Rs 937 crore under the Rytu Bandhu scheme and distributed to the farmers. Stating that the government was encouraging nature farming, he reminded that the various banks in the district distributed crop loans to the tune of Rs 9,155 crore this year.

 He said the district administration has taken initiative to sanction loans to the tenant farmers also. 

He said that banks distributed crop loans of Rs 157 crore to the tenant farmers and reminded that the government completed Kondaveetivagu Lift Irrigation Scheme works to avoid flood threat of stream to the state capital Amaravati. 

He explained financial assistance extended through Kapu Corporation, SC Corporation, ST Welfare, Brahmin Corporation and Minorities Corporation.
 
Later, the collector distributed appreciation letters to the government employees for their meritorious services in discharging their duties. 

The cultural programmes of school children held on the occasion enthralled the audience. Earlier, he received guard of honour of police, scouts and NCC cadets.
