Tirupati: The 70th Republic Day celebrated with patriotism and zeal throughout the district on Saturday. SVIMS Director Dr TS Ravikumar pitched for building global excellence by creating University without borders, which was an ideology of Hub to Hut that he espoused since taking charge of SVIMS.

Addressing the SVIMS family after unfurling the national flag on the occasion of Republic Day on Saturday, he said that a robust districtwide cancer control strategy was rolled out on January 25 and for all non-communicable diseases a similar platform was built.
 
At a function organised on the premises of the Municipal Corporation office, Commissioner V Vijaya Rama Raju, MLA M Suguna, TUDA Chairman G Narasimha Yadav have participated and distributed meritorious certificates to the staff members. The Commissioner has stressed the importance of right to vote in democratic set up and urged everyone to exercise their franchise in elections. At Sub-Collector’s office, Sub-Collector Dr R Mahesh Kumar has unfurled the tricolour and addressed the employees.

Red Sanders Anti-Smuggling Task Force (RSASTF) IG Dr M Kantha Rao pointed out that the governments could not provide the amenities to the staff of RSASTF though it has been working extraordinarily in preventing smuggling. He distributed certificates to staff for their meritorious services.
 
Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha (RSVP) Vice-Chancellor (V-C) Prof V Muralidhara Sharma called for dedication in the staff and work unitedly for the development of the Vidyapeetha. He wished that the bill to upgrade RSVP a Central University should be passed in the Parliament soon.

The V-C of Sri Venkateswara Vedic University (SVVU) Prof S Sudarsana Sharma has explained the spirit of Republic Day and called for the similar spirit from all the faculty towards the development of the University. He felicitated T Gangadhara Sharma, who won gold medal in Dharma Shastra, at national-level competitions held in Agarthala.
 
In a ceremony held at the Sri City, DSP B Vimala Kumari unfurled the national flag and took salute from contingents of security force. She appealed to everyone to rededicate to the nation and contribute their might in making the country strong and self-reliant. At a programme organised by Rashtriya Seva Samithi (RASS), the Director of Self-Help Groups V Nagaraju participated and distributed blankets to poor people. Cultural programmes and sports and games of children received applause.

APSPDCL Chairman and Managing Director MM Naik gave a call to the employees to rededicate them in the service of consumers by providing uninterrupted and quality power in the region. He said that during the last financial year eight lakh people have paid their bills in the form digital payments and it has gone up to 16.3 lakh consumers this year so far.

The In-charge V-C of Sri Padmavathi Mahila Visvavidyalayam (SPMVV) Prof V Uma has unfurled the national flag on the varsity premises in which Registrar Prof DM Mamatha, Deans Prof K Muragaiah, Prof A Jyothi, Engineering College Principal Ramakrishna and others were present. Ruia Hospital Superintendent Dr B Sidda Naik, SV Medical College Principal Dr G Ravi Prabhu, former Principal Dr NV Ramanaiah and others took part in the Republic Day celebrations held in the college grounds. 

SV Veterinary University V-C Dr Y Hari Babu has unfurled the tricolour in the varsity campus and took the salute. He distributed certificates to the staff for meritorious service. The scientists of Acharya NG Ranga Agricultural University Dr A Ramakrishna Rao, Dr BV Bhaskara Reddy, Dr TNVKV Prasad and Dr M Viswanath have received certificates for their exemplary services from the District Collector at Chittoor. 

At the programmes held at railway station, reservation complex and RPF Barracks, the Station Director K Satyanarayana, Station Manager M Subodh Mithra, RPF CI Saidaiah and others were present. The railway station was illuminated on the occasion.
