Brahmins used only as vote bank, says Kodela Siva Prasada Rao

Guntur: Assembly Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao said that government of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was committed to the welfare of Brahmins, who he said were facing poverty. Leaders of Brahmin organisations felicitated him at a programme in Geetha Mandiram in Narasaraopet on Sunday.  

Speaking on this occasion, Siva Prasada Rao said that he was giving priority to Brahmins in Narasaraopet and Sattenapalli Assembly constituencies. Reminding that Naidu had kept his election promise by setting up a corporation to extend financial help to Brahmins, he said that other political parties had used the community as a vote bank and neglected them later.

The Speaker said the Chandrababu Naidu government was implementing various welfare schemes to different sections of the population in spite of financial crisis.  Stating that he developed Narasaraopet and Sattenapalli Assembly constituencies with the support of the people, he reminded that a Veda Pathasala was started at Kotappakonda and sought cooperation of voters to get TDP into power in the coming elections. Seeking the support of Brahmins once again, he said the community had been supporting him since 1976 in Narasaraopet.

AP Brahmin Welfare Corporation chairman Vemuri Anand Surya said that so far the corporation had spent Rs 200 crore for the welfare of Brahmins and reminded that the government was extending a financial assistance of Rs 70,000 to perform marriages of daughters besides giving Rs  2,000 per month pensions to the poor Brahmins.

He said the government was distributing sewing machines to the women in poor Brahmins families in each Assembly constituency. He urged the Brahmins to avail the benefits of the welfare schemes  and vote in favour of TDP in the coming general elections.
