Concern over human trafficking in India

Srikakulam: The executive director (ED) of USA based NGO Sparrow’s hope, John Moriarty says that women and children are the worst sufferers of this menace. The NGO launched a movement against trafficking with a slogan ‘running to stop human trafficking’, John Moriarty stated that human trafficking is the second worst illegal activity after illegal transportation of ammunition.  

NGO started its first movement in 2017 by riding cycles between Mumbai and Chennai covering 1,600 km to bring awareness on the problem. In 2018 they covered 770 km distance by riding cycle and running from Chennai to Kovalam. Now the NGO members are on the way from Chennai to Bhuvaneswar cycle ride to cover 1250 km.

As part of it on Tuesday they created awareness among students of government Degree College for women at Srikakulam. The ‘Sparrow’s hope’ ED, John and members Susan from USA, Melwyn, Godfrey, Kim, Tammy and Andrew from Bengaluru, Simon from NagarKoil and Anes from Kanyakumari explained preventive methods of human trafficking.
