Tirupati: Paving the way for setting up ‘Economic City’ at Settipalli near Tirupati, the district officials have secured the acceptance letters from all the persons in whose possession the lands exist.

Apart from creating infrastructure to increase economic activities, it will also help people there as they get rights for the lands which they are in possession for over 70 years with no records in their name.

They have been demanding regularisation of the lands. The total lands in the possession of 3,300 members out of which about 3,000 have houses and the remaining are agricultural lands.

Speaking to The Hans India, Joint Collector PS Girisha said that the government will develop the area by providing roads, stadium, parks, Anganwadi building, water and other facilities.

It becomes inevitable to develop the village for benefit of the residents to develop economic city. The acceptance letters given by the locals will be sent immediately to the government and further orders to create economic city may be issued later this week.

Under this, it was expected that some software and manufacturing companies may come up and establish their units and when they invest there, employment opportunities will be created, and economic activity will flourish as the area was very near to Tirupati city.

The exact plan of action may come out once the government gives green signal for the proposed economic city, Girisha said.

The district authorities have been proposing to the government that Tirupati Urban Development Authority (TUDA) will look after the development process.

It may be recalled that without having any documents, the residents of Settipalle village were demanding rights on the lands.

The government has looked into the problem and decided to develop economic city there. It was intended to build economic city by acquiring the land under land pooling.
