Women told to be self-confident at an awareness programme in Vijayawada

Vijayawada: Women’s Cell of Maris Stella College in association with Helping Spot organisation conducted an awareness programme on self-confidence here on Tuesday.

The chief guest of the programme B Raja Kumari, Deputy Commissioner of Police said that women should be self-confident. Students must give priority to education. Nowadays, the social status of women has changed and the women were getting good education and better opportunities in all the fields.  

She said that women were actively participating in social, political and economic fields and said that women should know about legal system and various laws and acts for their safety. 

She suggested the girls to make use of police and government for their wellbeing.

In this connection, paper presentations and various competitions were conducted on the topics like physical harassment, power harassment, supervisor harassment, sexual harassment, personal harassment and justice.

The guest of valedictory session Shereen Begum (SP) Joint director, ACB spoke on women problems and how to overcome those problems.

Bhargav, founder, Helping Spot organisation, K Kezia Mary, president HSO, Dr Sr Rekha, deputy principal, members of the Women’s Cell Dr  Sr Lovely Jacob, Dr V N Mangadevi, P V Sridevi, Dr Kanaka Durga and all the degree students were present.

Skits were performed by the students and the winners were given prizes.
