Youth parliament competitions held in Rajamahendravaram
Rajamahendravaram: GBR Educational Institutions secretary and correspondent Tetali Adi Reddy (Konda Babu) has said that National Youth Parliament competitions were organised successfully at the GBR degree college under the aegis of Union Ministry of Youth Services.
This programme was aimed at bringing awareness among students and youth on the functioning of parliament and also on the importance of democracy, he added.
Speaking to the media at the press club here on Tuesday, he said that the Union Ministry had conducted the competitions in medical colleges and engineering colleges across the country and the honour was given to GBR college, Anaparthi, in recognition to its NSS progarammes executed.
As many as 78 candidates were selected across the district and out of them, 59 candidates participated in the competitions.
The first prize was bagged by S Mounika Sri Achyuta of PR Government College-Kakinada, second prize won by D Preethi Mishal and third prize scored by Kancharla Mallika (Aditya degree college for women-Kakinada).
In addition to this, GSS Durga Manisha Naidu (Rajamahendri degree college for women) and S Veeresh (SKVT degree colllege) were selected for panel.
The candidates will participate in the state-level competitions held at Kalikiri in Chittoor district on February 6 and the selected candidates will participate in national-level youth parliament at New Delhi in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other Cabinet ministers.
Noted personalities participated as jury members to the competitions held on Monday.
Along with Kondababu, college principal Dr M Rama Reddy, nodal officer J Suresh, Peddabbayi Reddy and BR Reddy were present.
