3 held for organising cricket betting

Nellore: Vedayapalem police arrested three persons on Thursday, who were involved in organising cricket betting and seized Rs 1.5 lakh cash and three mobile phones from them. The accused were identified as B Surendra, P Srikanth, and K Rajesh.

Addressing the media at Vedayapalem Police Station here on Thursday, Circle Inspector K Narasimha Rao said that trio have been conducting illegal betting on the cricket matches. The accused collected bets from the persons in a grocery shop located in Vedayapalem. “Most of the transactions pertaining to betting have been made online, but the people used to make their payments through cash.

The bettings were conducted according to information based on the game and also performance of the players,” said CI. The accused have attracted the people, who were interested in cricket and also in getting easy money, he added. Acting on a tip off, police conducted raids on the shop and nabbed the accused.
