Tirupati: Hailing State government’s decision to abolish life tax for auto rickshaws, the auto drivers took out a rally here on Wednesday.  TUDA Chairman G Narasimha Yadav, TDP City President D Bhaskar Yadav, party leaders BL Sanjay, Dr Asha Latha, S Subbaramaiah and others participated in the rally.

The auto drivers have performed milk bath to the photo of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu at Town Club Circle and raised slogans in favour of him and the party. Later, they started the rally which went through Prakasam Road, Gandhi Road, Bandla Street and concluded at Ambedkar Statue.

The auto drivers said that the government’s decision was a boon to them as they need not pay either annual tax or life tax on auto rickshaws. Paying life tax to the tune of Rs 2,500 to Rs 3,000 will become a burden on the self-employed youth and they were deeply worried with the government’s decision of imposing life tax.

The government was kind enough in considering the mood of lakhs of auto drivers in the State and decided to abolish both the life tax and yearly tax.

Entire auto driver fraternity will be indebted to the Chief Minister for his decision, they said. It may be recalled that during the recent visit of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to the city, about 70 auto drivers led by IS Khaja of Sudarshan Auto stand met him at the airport to thank him for abolishing life tax on their vehicles. They assured him of their full support to the party.
