Rail Digital Museum to showcase heritage
Visakhapatnam: To make people aware of the rich heritage of Indian Railways, the Waltair Railway Division started Rail Digital Museum at Visakhapatnam railway station.
The railway authorities have planned to screen the heritage of Indian Railways through movie clips on the digital screens. Short films, photographs of heritage buildings, heritage locomotives, Swachhta Videos, awareness campaign videos and many will be displayed to make the people aware of the rich heritage content of Indian Railways and on Swachhta importance.
The LED screens costing Rs 2 lakh were sponsored by HPCL, Visakh refinery under Swachh Bharat CSR funds which is commissioned by MP, Visakhapatnam Dr K Haribabu. While inaugurating the museum, Haribabu said that it is indeed a innovative initiative by both the Railways and HPCL to have Rail Digital Museum to show case the rich heritage of Indian Railways as well as to propagate the message of Swachhta and other awareness programmes to the Rail commuters.
Speaking to media, Divisional Railway Manager Mukul Saran Mathur said that Waltair Division’s consistent efforts to provide high quality service to the Rail commuters resulted in building airport like facilities at Railway stations and said that the railways were also focusing on the redevelopment of stations to give new look, improved amenities, information systems and creating awareness among the users on various issues to achieve our objective to provide better service. Dignitaries from HPCL-VR including Executive Director A S V Ramanan, CGM V Ratan Raj, GM N Raja Rao, DGM (CSR) Z H Mulla and Manager (PR) M Kali were present.
REFRESHING LOUNGE
A luxury unique refreshing lounge consisting both toilets and refreshment facilities named as Refreshing Lounge, a first of its kind in Indian Railways constructed on Plat Form No 8 was also inaugurated by K Haribabu. The lounge was constructed with all the modern amenities similar to those in airports including toilets, shower rooms, green rooms and relaxing facilities at a cost of Rs 75 lakh of which, HPCL-Visakh Refinery contributed Rs 49.50 lakh under Swachh Bharat Mission.
The lounge is constructed with RCC framed structure with plinth area of 1,866 square feet with a diamond shaped elevated ramp access. The lounge is constructed with high quality fittings and completed in record time of three-and-half months. A dressing and baby feeding room has been provided in the womens block.
