Kadapa: The TDP leadership reportedly finalised the name of ND Vijaya Jyothi to field her from Badvel (SC) Assembly constituency in the upcoming elections.

According to party sources, the Chief Minister might include her name in the first list of probable candidates to be announced shortly. Vijaya, a native of Kalasapadu mandal in Badvel Assembly constituency, had resigned to bank manager post and joined politics. In 2014 elections, she contested on TDP ticket and lost to YSRCP candidate T Jayaramulu with a margin of 9,200 votes.

Later, Jayaramulu joined the TDP. To protect her political interests, Chandrababu has appointed her as one of the executive body members in the Yogi Vemana University (YVU).

The TDP chief decided to give her party ticket as she sacrificed her bank manager post and has been playing an active role for strengthening the party in the Badvel Assembly constituency.

Widening of differences between Badvel MLA T Jayaramulu and Minister C Adinarayana Reddy and Badvel TDP in-charge P Vijayamma has turned the situation in Vijaya’s favour. The local leaders say Jayaramulu skipped district-level party coordination meetings and sat on hunger strike without party consent to express solidarity for Dharma Porata Deeksha participated by Chandrababu on March 20 last year.

Besides, the MLA failed to maintain good rapport with the constituency people and local party leadership sought disciplinary action against him. On the condition of anonymity, a senior TDP leader from Badvel said that there was no coordination between the MLA and local leaders.
