Vijayawada: The National Investigation Agency (NIA), in its charge sheet filed before the NIA Court, here concurred with the report submitted by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) which earlier investigated into the attack on Opposition leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy. The details of the charge sheet were revealed in the court on Thursday.

The NIA in its report stated that the accused, J Srinivas Rao, intentionally attacked the Opposition leader and hence he was booked under Section 307 which deals with the attempt to murder.

The NIA charge sheet made it clear that Srinivas Rao was a fan of Jaganmohan Reddy and the attack was intended to evoke sympathy towards the Opposition leader. This is in concurrence with the report filed earlier by the SIT.

The charge sheet stated that Srinivas Rao had a chat with Jaganmohan Reddy before the attack and even told him, “Sir, our party would win 160 seats in the elections.” It also stated that Srinivas Rao discussed with his colleagues  at the airport food court the day before the attack.

The charge sheet stated that Srinivas Rao requested his colleague Hemalata to talk to one of the YSR Congress leaders to allow him to take the selfie with Jaganmohan Reddy for which Hemalata assured him.

The charge sheet stated that Srinivas Rao went into the VIP lounge to serve food to the YSR Congress president and others after they entered the lounge.

The NIA also referred to the doctor’s certificate that there was an injury on the left arm of the Opposition leader. The injury was one centimetre  long, half centimetre width and three and a half centimetres deep, the NIA charge sheet stated.
