Polavaram can withstand 50 lakh cusecs flood: Minister

 Polavaram: Minister for Civil Supplies and district in-charge minister Prattipati Pulla Rao has said the prestigious Polavaram project could withstand 50 lakh cusecs of flood.

He explained the salient features of the project to 7,000 people from his native constituency of Chilakaluripet in Guntur district who visited the project in 150 buses on  Thursday.

The minister said that internationally reputed companies were involved in the project construction and using modern equipment worth Rs 2,000 crore to speed  up the process.

The project gained place in Guinness Book of World Records by finishing 32,000 cubic metres of concrete works in 24 hours. The project, aimed at mitigating drought conditions, is expected to be ready by December, he added.
