Plan to mitigate maternal mortality rate in ELuru

 Eluru: District Medical and Health department and Women and Child Welfare Department Act in coordination and evolve a comprehensive plan to mitigate mother-child mortality rate, suggested district Collector Praveen Kumar. 

He reviewed the progress in woman and child welfare with officials here on Friday. 

Speaking on the occasion, he directed the officials to prepare a comprehensive audit report on mother child deaths and analyse reasons for the same. 

He wanted them to spot the villages and bring awareness in people to avoid deaths.  

Stating that the deaths should be contained at any cost, the Collector reviewed the ‘Bala Sanjeevini’ and  ‘Anna Amrutha Hastam’ programmes  intended for the supply of nutritious food to the mother and child. 

He asked the officials to alert anganwadi workers, supervisors and Asha workers over the schemes intended for mother and child. 

ICDS project director Vijayakumari, DMHO Dr Subrahmanyeswari and others were present.
