APSRTC JAC to hold talks with political parties

Vijayawada: The APSRTC trade unions JAC will hold an important meeting on Monday here with the mainstream political parties and other trade unions in view of the proposed indefinite strike from February 6.

It may be recalled the RTC employees JAC has decided to start an indefinite strike from February 6 if the RTC management and the state government fail to concede their demands, particularly the pay revision.

The RTC employees are asking for the 50 per cent hike in the pay while the RTC management agreed to give 20 per cent hike.  In this backdrop, the employees JAC convened a meeting at 11 am at the MBVK Bhavan on February 4.

P Damodara Rao, convener of the APSRTC employees JAC, said on Sunday that the meeting would discuss important subjects like pay revision and added that talks held several times with the management had proved futile.

Damodara Rao said the RTC management was to blame if 50,000 RTC employees were to go on strike from February 6. He said demonstrations were held in front of all depots and bike rallies were taken out by the JAC as part of the struggle for the pay revision.
