21-year-old girl dies under suspicious circumstances
Darsi: A 21-year-old girl who was in love with a boy belonging to a different caste died under suspicious circumstances at Kothapalli village in Tallur mandal in Prakasam district. The police suspect it to be an “honour killing” case. According to police, the girl’s father was unhappy over his daughter falling in love with a boy from a different caste. He reportedly had an argument over the issue with his daughter even on Monday.
According to Tallur SI Srinivasa Rao, Kota Vaishnavi (21), was the daughter of Venkareddy and native of Kothapalli village in Tallur mandal. Vaishnavi was a second-year degree student in a private college at Ongole and used to go to the college daily from home as a day scholar. She was reportedly in love with a boy, Sunil, of a “lower” caste from Lingasamudram, and the issue was debated at their home for the last few days.
Her parents told the locals that Vaishnavi died due to ill-health in the early hours on Monday and shifted her body to her grandmother’s house in the same village. The SI said that they received a complaint from VRO Yellamanda Reddy and started the inquiry. He said that the girl’s father was absconding and the search is on for him.
